Description: In St. George Utah there are two different geological formations that are very different in appearance and age, The first and most striking are the red mountains that have been eroding away for millions of years. The top of these mountains used to be the bottom floor of the valley. Wind and rain have whittled them down for eons. Much later, in geological terms, came considerable volcanic activity with their signature deep gray lava flows that pushed through the valleys leaving their hardened trails. Add in the vegetation that is constantly changing with the seasons. It’s both slow and fast depending on how you think about it.
